Hair Replacement / Hair Transplant in Canada

Hair Replacement is one of the top requested male surgeries. It is a procedure that only a few plastic surgeons perform, it is mainly performed by ENT’s (Ear, Nose & Throat) or general surgeons, who have had specialized training in it.

The most common and effective method of Hair Replacement is a Hair Transplant. A Hair Transplant is performed under local anesthetic. An area of hair called the ‘donor area’ is removed (usually from the back of the head, or sometimes the sides, as these areas rarely lose hair), and this donor area is then divided into follicular units, usually made up of 1, 2 or 3 hairs. The recipient area (the area where there is bald or thinning hair) is then prepped with tiny holes created, ready to accept the grafts. Once the recipient sites have been created, the grafts are individually inserted. The transplanted hair will end up growing in the recipient area, and should continue to grow forever.

Hair transplant techniques have come a long way from the old ‘pluggy’ obvious hair transplants of the past, and are now indetectable. If you do not want to have a surgical procedure there are also non-surgical options like medications and hair systems.
