Body Lift in Canada

A Body lift (may also be called a ‘Belt Lipectomy’) is a procedure that involves the lifting of many areas of the body, and can include a lower body lift, buttock/thigh lift, tummy tuck and arm lift. The procedure removes excess skin, tissue and fat and the remaining skin is tightened, and is very common after a large weight loss or weight loss surgery.

After a large weight loss it is common to have folds of loose skin left, which cannot be reduced with diet or exercise, only removed surgically. The procedure will leave extensive scarring in areas where the skin has been removed, but plastic surgeons will perform techniques to minimize scarring.

Depending on the amount of areas to be lifted the surgery may not be performed in one day but stretched over multiple surgeries. The surgery may be done on an outpatient basis or you may be asked to stay overnight. You will feel discomfort, but any pain can be controlled with medication. You can expect the areas lifted to be bruised, swollen and sore and this can last for a month or more. A surgical compression garment mayt be worn post surgery to help support the muscle tightening.

The results of a body lift are instantaneous but the final result will not be seen until swelling has reduced.Your surgeon will give you specific recovery instructions but usually you will be asked to rest for the first 2 – 4 weeks. You will probably be instructed not to participate in strenuous activities for 6 – 8 weeks.
