Arm Lift (Brachioplasty) in Canada

An arm lift (also known as brachioplasty) is a procedure designed to reduce upper arm fat and skin that hangs down (‘batwing’ arms).

If the arm has fat present, but no loose skin, liposuction alone may be performed. For those with loose skin and fat, liposuction is performed and then the loose skin trimmed and sutured. This results in a long scar running underneath the arm, from elbow to armpit.

After surgery, a dressing is applied and your arms are wrapped in a compression garment that must be worn to help swelling and to help your skin to fit its new contours.

The surgery is usually done on an outpatient basis. You will feel discomfort, but any pain can be controlled with medication. You can expect your arms to be bruised, swollen and ache and this can last for a few weeks.

The results of an arm reduction are instantaneous but the final result will not be seen until swelling has reduced.Your surgeon will give you specific recovery instructions but usually you will be asked to rest for the first week. You will probably be instructed not to participate in strenuous activities for 2 – 4 weeks.
